Superficial Digital Flexor Tendon Rupture
DIAGNOSIS: Superficial Digital Flexor Tendon Rupture (LF) and Partial Rupture (RF)
BACKGROUND: I was contacted by Andrew’s vet physio who wished to refer to me for INDIBA after Andrew was facing being put to sleep following on from a traumatic injury to his tendons out hunting.
OWNERS REVIEW:
Sadly my lovely horse, Andrew, came back from a hunting loan home, where he was meant to be living his dream life, completely broken! His near fore tendon was completely ruptured and his off fore tendon was severely damaged too! After an initial examination by my vet, I was advised to either put him to sleep or expect a three year recovery!
As Andrew is such a special horse to me I obviously opted for the recovery route! A long hard road of dedicated care was ahead of me. Complete box rest was never an option as Andrew would have gone crazy! Luckily I have small all weather turnout pens that were ideal for him, along with a little bit of daily sedation! This kept him and me sane!
There was no treatment available that would help Andrew, stem cell, PRP, shock wave etc…. was never an option as his tendon was so badly ruptured, there were no holes or fibres to fill or repair!
A miracle phone call from my horse Physio gave me hope! She had heard lots of good reports about INDIBA! I immediately connected Calli, who was amazing and managed to fit in Andrew. Scans of his tendons were sent to INDIBA so they could advise on the correct dosage he could have from the machine.
I booked in the recommended sessions, and along with my vet, who showed me how to do a Robert Jones Bandage, treatment commenced!
It was truly AMAZING to see how the numbers on the machine were so low to start with and then after every treatment they improved. I had two more scans, in line with his treatments, and continually followed the advice given to me by Calli.
Only four months after Andrew’s initial scan, both legs look AMAZING! I had another scan and was advised by my vet that both legs look REMARKABLE and he can start ridden work! You could initially wobble his whole tendon as it was that damaged, but now it is rock hard with near normal shape! It really is a miracle!
I can only assume this outcome is because he had INDIBA! I will definitely continue with the recommended sessions advised as this will continue to help strengthen his tendons.
Andrew is very lucky to have had INDIBA. He now has a future ahead of him and I still have my horse to enjoy!
Thank you INDIBA, and thank you Callie for putting up with a sometimes rather difficult Andrew 😂😂
Deborah and Andrew 💕💙💕💙
It has been a real pleasure to be a part of Deborah and Andrew’s road to recovery, and to see them both back out eventing is beyond fabulous!
